Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered many other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests indicate the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in association with the event," they stated.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
An important representative stated the incident rendered him speechless and required to be solved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of migrant background in February 2020.
